For my summer reading project I read the book Mr.Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore. The book was a fun and I enjoyed reading it. In the book there are many turns and twists in the story that kept me intrested in the book all the way through. I would recomend it to anyone looking for a good read and looking for a story of mystery. Now a summary of the book.
In the book there are a few main characters: Clay, Kat, Oliver, Corvina, and Mr.Penumbra. There are also many minor characters such as Clay's roommates and the people who were trying to solve the founders puzzle (The puzzle to get into the Unbroken Spines). In the begin of the book Clay was trying to find a job and walked past the bookstore and saw the sign saying "Help Wanted." He went in and got the job and was assigned the night shift. At first he though that were he was working was a normal book store, but soon realized it was much much more; Clay relized that there were only three people that ran the book store Him, Oliver, and Penumbra. He also relized that only certain people came into the bookstore the so-called members, every once in a while a random person would come in but usally not get anything and one night a girl came in, her name was Kat, this is the first time the two main charaters met. Eventually the started dating and worked together to solve a giant mystery no one thought they could solve by just using a computer. After they solve a the Founders Puzzle Mr. Penumbra gets summoned to the Unbroken Spines H.Q. In NYC. The Unbroken Spines was a underground organization that lots of people were involed with. Clay and Kat follow after Mr.Penumbra because he left with out telling anyone were he was going so they had to track him down. Once they find him he lets them meet his boss Corvina and was the leader of the Unbroken Spines and they get to read books with very complex puzzles and the ultimate puzzle that no one had ever solved. After all of this happens Clay and Kat again use computers to solve the "Ultimate puzzle". At first Corvina was not happy of how they solved these puzzles but later he accepts that technology will help solve countless puzzles. And thats my summary of my summer reading book.
